LEADERSHIP WORD OF THE WEEK:
PRAYER
LEADERSHIP
QUOTES

God; meditation is when you listen to God." Diana
Robinson

than to be alive without breathing.” Martin Luther

overwhelming conviction that I had nowhere else to go."

Christian life. Yet, it remains an admitted area of weakness
for most believers." J. Oswald Sanders
“Allow yourself and your church to take prayer as
seriously as you take education, worship, outreach and
fellowship.” C. Peter Wagner
HISTORICAL
PROFILE
Antone
Pannutti
Antone
Pannutti was always enamored with laboratories and chemicals.
While still in high school he developed a new shaving crème. It
was in his last year as a chemistry student at Georgetown
University that he made a decision to go into the cosmetic
manufacturing business after graduation.
Visiting a
drug wholesaler, he reiterated his plans to him. Antone spoke to
him of creating lotions and crèmes that would not spoil,
deteriorate, or harden in the heat; something unheard of in the
late 1930’s.
He was met
extreme skepticism and derision. The wholesaler gave him reasons
why young Pannutti would fail. He said:
·
“The competition is too keen.”
·
“You’re too young.”
·
“Do you think you can stop face creams from
turning rancid? Can you keep lotions and pastes from getting
moldy. Why, we took back$55,000 worth of spoiled product from
our retailers.”
·
“Better men than you have tried it, and failed.”
·
“The job is too big.”
Pannutti was
rocked by the verbal barrage. Later, thinking on the negative
diatribe, he reached a turning point in his life. Here’s what
the young graduate chemist said, “Well,
that remark got my dander up. I was determined to succeed where
other chemists had failed. Before long, however, I realized the
wholesaler had been right – the job was too big for me – alone.
I needed help. Prayer was the answer.”
And prayer
was the answer for Pannutti. With his prayer commitment in
place Antone would:
·
Create a spot removal pencil
·
Patent a self repairing zipper
·
Patent several improvements on radio controlled
airplanes
·
Invented a new type of miniature radio
·
Invented a new type if detergent
·
Finally invent a line of lotions and crèmes that
would not spoil
In all,
Antone Pannutti would invent over 300 items, build a huge
factory, and receive national recognition. He gave all the
credit to his godly mother and the fact that she taught him how
to pray.
